18u players are ages 13-18 years old.  Players aged 18 years or less on January 1 of the current year are eligible for 12u play.  The 18u league emphasizes further refinement of the fundamental softball skills (catching, throwing, hittings, base running, rules, and game play) continues to build on the skills learned at 12u.  BRYC plays its games in the Spring (Apr-Jun) and Fall (Sep-Oct/Nov), and sponsors a team in the Summer Fairfax County Girls Softball League.

18u is somewhat of a step up in play from the 12u level, but is still focused on the league's primary mission...ensuring a positive softball experience for all players.  By and large you will find a higher level of play at the 18u level, but you will also find teams that are more developmental.  There's a healthy mix of those players who are just starting out (generally at the younger ages in this group) and those who just enjoy playing softball for the fun of it and have no desire to get ultra-competitive, that's what select/travel ball are for.  We still encourage parents to help, especially during practice where a coach can break the team down into small groups to have more individualized focus on each player.
